The Black Friday Fez ~ 2nd edition
Do not adjust your monitor, it is actually that much black.
Four years ago I made a black on black on black Skull and Crossbones fez as a Fez of the Week. We still get comments about that one.
With the popularity of this year's Crossbones fez, I think it is time we revisited the idea with 2nd edition.
This special holiday edition fez is only available through Black Friday and features our original Crossbones design rendered in all black thread on a black velvet fez.
Now that I think about it, I pretty much summed the idea up in my post from 2010 so I'll just put that here.
It’s blacker than black y’all!
This week we commemorate the blackest Fez Friday of the year, Black Friday with our blackest fez of the year, a black on black on black Skull and Crossbones fez. How much more black could it be? That’s right, NONE MORE BLACK. Black velvet, black thread and a black tassel with a black chrome tassel eyelet. The lining? Well it’s red, a reminder that if you remove your fez during Black Friday there better be blood involved. This is like a fez from strange alternate reality where pirates and ninjas come together in some sort of hybrid of coolness. A Pinja, or Nirate… I don’t know. What I do know is this is my fez for Black Friday. You can get your own… Here! You can even add black chrome vents to the top if you think you can handle it.Why Black Friday?
Each year we venture out before that large burning sphere enters our time zone to witness the consumers running wild through the isles. Pamplona has the bulls, we have desperate shoppers looking to score deals off of retailers' lowered expectations for the season ahead. For me it is the heady mix of sleep deprivation, surrealist humor and strong coffee that keeps me coming back. It’s like getting to experience the zombie apocalypse, except zombies would be better behaved, know what they are looking for and occasionally make eye contact. I find the whole experience endlessly entertaining; plus we get to see the sun come up, go out to breakfast and spend the rest of the day lounging on the couch watching Lord of the Rings and sleeping through all the slow parts. What better way to take part than to stand among the pre-dawn chaos with coffee in hand and when some one asks “Are you looking for something?” you can simply answer, “Nope, I just came for the atmosphere.”
