We're headed South for our first showing at Dragon Con!
We are very excited to finally be making our début at this amazing show. We have wanted to get this show on our schedule for years. Now, since this is our first year we will have a slightly smaller booth than normal and since we were a late addition to the show we didn't have a lot of time to plan ahead. Of course, that didn't stop us from making not one, but two con exclusives for the show!Let's get the obvious one out-of-the-way first:
The 2016 Cthulhu Fez ~ Dragon Con Edition
Our new Cthulhu design returns in a special color variant for Dragon Con. Only a total of 50 of these will be made and each comes with a special edition pin. Since our fezzes are not “one-size-fits-all” we’re holding a few of them back to be offered made-to-order on the website. We’re bringing 42 fezzes in an array of sizes to the show and any that survive the weekend will be listed online once we return. The Gen Con version managed to lock up our website when the final 8 fezzes were posted, prompting us to upgrade our hosting package and migrate servers. This time we're doing things a little different. If you are interested, I have set up a wait list for people who would like to get notified via email when the remaining fezzes are available. As if a limited edition Cthulhu fez wasn't enough for our Dragon Con début we've got a really cool collaboration with artist Derek Yaniger!
The League of Benevolent Boozers Fez
Since we're venturing out into our friend Derek's home turf, we decided it was the perfect time to do another collaboration with him. Only a total of 50 of these will be made and each comes with a special edition pin. Like the above limited edition we will be holding a few of them back to be offered made-to-order on the website but we are also setting aside some for a special offer for the serious Derek collectors out there. We’re bringing 36 fezzes in an array of sizes to the show and any that survive the weekend will also be listed online once we return. Find us on the 3rd Floor of the AmericasMart Building 2 - Booth 824
I'm told the con has gone through a lot of changes over the last few years and has now taken over the Mart. We'll be on the 3rd Floor near Artist Alley, where we like it. We only have a 10' in-line instead of our more typical corner but it should be pretty easy to find us. There are a number of our friends on this floor including Horror in Clay, Monkey Minion Press and of course DerekArt!
The Tiki Pop Phenomenon Panel ~ Sunday 1pm
Speaking of Horror in Clay and DerekArt, I will be joining Jonathan M Chaffin, Derek Yaniger and host Michael Gordon (NewLegendMike) for a discussion on Polynesian Pop's influence on our art. The panel takes place on Sunday Sept 4th at 1pm on the 4th floor of building 2 - Room 204 AIf you are attending the show, be sure to swing by the booth and say hi, and if you can’t be there in person, look for updates on the social media. We get back August 9th and we’ll do our best to get the website updated as soon as possible.
